One thing we've noticed over the past decade or so is that students seem to be aware of the Jewish people's role in the world less and less.
They cheer Israel on from the sidelines - or not at all - but they are not active participants in the story. Many students limit their Jewish education to just learning about heroes and ideologues of our past, when they should be trying to become the next heroes and ideologues themselves!
This isn't an easy process, and it definitely takes time and courage, but it's a process that's necessary if we're ever going to fulfill our purpose. Understanding your personal role in the Jewish people's story is just a first step to making a positive difference in the world, in your community, and for yourself.
