Hi ,
A message from our presenter, Aryeh Shapiro:
-----
As a student of history, international relations, and the revolutionary early 20th Century Torah of HaRav Kook, I’ve taken great interest in the ways that this Torah and the various revolutionary theories of the early 20th
century can learn from one another.
The concept of strengthening one’s ideas through debate and discussion - known in the West as dialectics and in Israel as mahloket - is central to both Rav Kook’s thought and the revolutionary movements of the last century, and heightens the relevance of such a dialogue between two schools of thought that seem so radically opposed.
By studying the principles and practice of revolutionary theory, we can take a step
forward in advancing Israel’s historic mission in the world, and complete the trifecta of national, religious, and universal life in the Israeli collective.
