FELLOWSHIP DETAILS
The Fellowship will consist of a monthly Zoom meeting where fellows will discuss readings assigned from the previous month. Readings will comprise both postcolonial and traditional Jewish sources.
Topics to be covered:
- What values and actions define a strong Jewish woman?
- Multiple Consciousness & holistic expression of Hebrew Female identity
- Female role models & leadership in Hebrew society
- The role of Jewish women in sex & marriage
- Intersex & soul genders in Hebrew thought
- Same-sex attraction & physical intimacy in Hebrew thought
Over each of the two 4-month semesters, fellows will be expected to produce a research paper on a Hebrew Feminist topic of their choice to be published at the conclusion of the Fellowship in a print-version Hebrew Feminist
Theory publication.
Over the course of the Fellowship, fellows will be required to submit topic proposals, outlines, rough drafts, and final submissions.
Estimated time commitments are as follows:
- 5-8 hours per month of reading/note-taking
- 2 hours per month of Zoom meetings (held at
the beginning of each Hebrew month)
- 15-20 hours per semester of research paper production (with fixed deadlines for topic proposal, outline, rough draft, and final submission)
